Trench Safety Stand Down Week: Protecting Workers Through Awareness and Prevention
Every year, workers across the country lose their lives in trenching and excavation incidents that are preventable with proper planning, training, and safety practices. During Trench Safety Stand Down Week, June 15th – 19th, employers, supervisors, and workers are encouraged to reinforce and focus on trenching and excavation safety.
How to Participate in Trench Safety Stand Down Week
A stand down is an opportunity to stop work and engage employees in conversations about safety. Organizations can participate by:
· Conducting toolbox talks on trenching hazards
· Reviewing excavation procedures and emergency plans
· Sharing trench safety resources with crews
The stand-down website includes links to training materials, toolbox talks, safety checklist, and podcasts. All resources are free to use and easy to download.
