Giving Hearts Day: Your Questions Answered
Each year, communities come together on Giving Hearts Day to celebrate the spirit of generosity and support nonprofit organizations that make a meaningful impact. Held annually on the second Thursday in February, this day has grown into one of the most significant 24-hour giving events.
Below, we’re answering some common questions about why we participate and how your generosity helps move our mission forward.
Q: What is Giving Hearts Day?
Giving Hearts Day is a 24-hour online giving event that unites donors, nonprofits, and communities to support meaningful causes across our region. It’s a day dedicated to generosity, impact, and making positive change together.
Q: Why does NDSC participate in Giving Hearts Day?
We participate in Giving Hearts Day because it allows us to amplify our mission and connect with supporters who believe in the work we do. This day helps us raise critical funds, build awareness, and continue providing programs and services that improve safety, well-being, and education in our communities.
Q: How does my donation make an impact?
Every donation, no matter the size, directly supports our Scholarship Fund. The NDSC Scholarship Fund allows us to provide safety training to organizations and communities who desperately need the training but lack the funds to access it. We’ve given nearly $50,000 in free training over the past decade, to more than a dozen organizations. Those organizations include Morton Mandan Public Library, Carrington City Library, ND Roughrider Health Promotion Association, Bridging the Dental Gap, Century High School AVID students, Northland Health Center, to name a few.
Your generous donation enables us to provide life-saving education and training to those who couldn’t afford it otherwise.
Q: Why should I give on Giving Hearts Day instead of another time?
Giving Hearts Day creates momentum. Many gifts are eligible for matching funds or bonus dollars, which means your donation can go even further. Plus, when our community comes together on one day, the collective impact is powerful.
Q: How can I donate?
- Give early: Donations are open now—start making an impact today
- Give on Giving Hearts Day (February 12): Visit GivingHeartsDay.org and select the North Dakota Safety Council
- Spread the word: Share our mission with colleagues, friends, and family to multiply the impact.
Thank you for believing in safety, education, and the power of prevention. Together, we can turn Giving Hearts Day into Saving Lives Day.
