First-ever Safetember to bring together community and safety partners

Free food, music and fun! Join the North Dakota Safety Council for a FIRST EVER event, Safetember. On September 13 from 2-8 pm, the NDSC is hosting an event that will give insight to the community and its members about how first responders, private companies, and education providers work together to make our communities safe.

Bringing together more than 16 safety partner organizations, the NDSC is hosting this FREE community and member event. Don’t miss the North Dakota National Guard bringing in a Black Hawk helicopter for the day. The Black Hawk lands at Noon and will be available all day for interaction with the public.

This first-ever event will give insight into how first responders, private companies and training providers work together to keep our community safe.

The day will be filled with unique opportunities to see things the public doesn’t often get a close view of. The Bismarck Police Department along with other law enforcement will practice three different active shooter hostage scenarios. With the chance to view these scenarios from above, this will be a rare chance to see how the BPD plans for these difficult scenarios that have become too common across the U.S. The Burleigh County Sheriff’s Department will demonstrate finding a missing person with their drone, plus in the NDSC hands-on training lab, there will be multiple tower rescues performed by rescue teams from Marathon and North American Coal. These safety demonstrations give a different perspective on how training can make a difference in our everyday safety.

It’s been five years since the NDSC opened its building at 1710 Canary Ave. in Bismarck. Thousands of students have been trained using this dynamic hands-on environment. From First Aid and CPR to enclosed space rescue, the NDSC is excited to celebrate the continued success of safety education.

Sixteen safety partners will be joining the NDSC on September 13. Multiple helicopters will be on-site including a North Dakota National Guard Black Hawk and Sanford Air Med. There are lots of chances to interact with safety demonstrations including an ATV course. An NDSC training showcase demonstrating fire extinguishers, self-protection, and the latest tool a Slips Simulator will make for a day packed with things to do. The day ends with free food from 4:30-6:30 and a free outdoor concert with the Nerve Impulse band!
