Danny
Bader
Read about Danny
Danny Bader is a keynote speaker, six-time author, workshop facilitator, and podcast host whose message has moved audiences in hospitality, healthcare, financial services, education, and beyond.
In 1992, Danny was struck by 8,000 volts of electricity on a job site. He had no heartbeat for six minutes. He lost his good friend that day. The experience left him with a completely different understanding of what it means to face mortality, find meaning in suffering, and choose to live with radical purpose.
For over two decades, Danny has brought that story and the powerful and proven principles that emerged from it to organizations including Marriott International, Ritz-Carlton, Hyatt, Westin, United Airlines, Lincoln Financial, and Merck. He has delivered workshops at the Westin St. Francis, Santa Clara Marriott, Grand Hyatt Scottsdale, and Normandy Farms, among others. Most recently, Danny opened the Ritz-Carlton Residences International Leadership Conference to a standing ovation.
Danny’s signature program, Back to Life, guides audiences through three levels of living — Rock Bottom, Functional Fog, and Radical Reverence — and equips them with five principles for living and leading with intention. His Sacred Question — “What will I create with the time I have left?” — serves as the anchor of every program he delivers.
Danny is also the host of the Back to Life podcast, where he has interviewed guests including country music star Phil Vassar and bestselling author James Laughlin. He lives in Conshohocken, PA.

TeamBetter Consulting
Ellie Nickel is a leadership and organizational development consultant, speaker, and founder of TeamBetter Consulting, where she helps build healthier teams and stronger leaders to deliver better business results. With more than 25 years of experience in Human Resources and Organizational Development, Ellie brings a perspective shaped by both corporate leadership experience and consulting work. She understands the challenges of building great teams not only as a consultant, but as a longtime practitioner who has experienced organizational life from the inside.
Ellie had the opportunity to work for some of the largest and most well-known corporate brands in the world, including Target Corp., PepsiCo, and Bobcat Company. Working in large organizations exposed her to frameworks, research, and practices supported by significant resources and specialized expertise. Just as importantly, it gave her the opportunity to see what works – and what doesn’t – when those ideas meet the realities of the workplace. Throughout her corporate career, Ellie worked with leaders at all levels, including supporting executives and senior leadership teams, giving her a practical understanding of the pressures leaders face.
Today, Ellie draws from that experience and multiple professional toolkits to create practical, customized approaches for the leaders and teams she serves. Through TeamBetter Consulting, she partners with leaders and organizations to improve organizational health and team effectiveness. Her work draws on respected frameworks including Patrick Lencioni’s organizational health principles, Gallup CliftonStrengths, and Working Genius. She also brings significant experience in employee engagement and change management, including many years learning from and working with Gallup on the topic of employee engagement. Her goal isn’t to introduce another one-size-fits-all solution, but to help organizations identify what their people and teams actually need to work better together.
As a speaker, Ellie is known for making complex leadership and workplace concepts approachable, relevant, and immediately useful. Her sessions are designed to be more than a presentation. She creates opportunities for participants to reflect, engage, and apply what they are learning to the teams and organizations they lead. Her goal is for people to leave with not only a new idea, but a practical way to put that idea to work.
Ellie speaks on topics including organizational health, employee engagement, high-performing teams, strengths-based leadership, and change management. Her presentations often challenge conventional thinking and encourage leaders to look beneath the surface of workplace challenges to understand what is really getting in the way of people and teams doing their best work. Her facilitation style is engaging, authentic, and practical, grounded in the perspective of someone who understands that even the best ideas have to work in the real world.
At the heart of Ellie’s work is a simple belief: simply working for the same company or reporting to the same leader doesn’t make people a team. Being a team requires action. Most people think the word team is a noun, it is actually a verb. Being a team requires trust, communication, clarity, accountability, and an intentional commitment to working together.
People spend a lot of their lives at work, and work shouldn’t be miserable. Work can be better. When people understand themselves, understand one another, and learn how to work together more effectively, work becomes more meaningful and productive.
Work gets better when we team better.

Before starting Imagination Applied, Josh held senior roles at Amazon Alexa, Zillow, and Skillsoft, where he watched up close how large organizations adopt new technology and how often they stall out at the surface. Same playbooks, same rollout decks, same “change management” frameworks that manage everything except the actual change. That pattern is what pushed him out on his own.
The idea at the center of his work is Artistic Intelligence—the conviction that creative and performing arts hold lessons for the AI era that the business world hasn’t figured out how to use yet. Not “be more creative” as a platitude. Actual methods, drawn from theater directing and ensemble practice, for building the cognitive flexibility that AI adoption demands. His proprietary methodologies, TheaterThink® and Human Caffeine™, are how that philosophy becomes something a team can actually do on a Tuesday.
Here’s the thing most people don’t expect: Josh builds. Not strategy decks—actual systems. React applications, xAPI courses, API integrations, multilingual AI-powered learning that reaches practitioners across more than 170 countries. He writes the code, architects the learning, and ships the product. In a field full of people who advise, he’s one of the ones who also makes things.
His article “Prompting Is the Problem,” published in ATD’s TD Magazine, challenged the assumption that better prompts are the path to better AI adoption. He speaks at conferences including Training 2026, SHRM, ATD, and USDLA, and is completing his book Artistic Intelligence: A Manifesto.
Diagnosed with autism and ADHD at 39, Josh brings a neurodiverse perspective to everything he does. He also has aphantasia—he literally cannot form mental images. The person who built a framework rooted in embodied creative practice can’t visualize. He’d argue that’s not a contradiction. It’s the point. When you can’t picture things, you learn to work with language, structure, and abstraction in ways most people skip right past. It’s a fitting wiring for someone whose whole career is about seeing things differently.Josh Penzell is the Founder & CEO of Imagination Applied, an AI transformation consulting practice. A professionally trained theater director with an MFA from CUNY-Brooklyn College and an MBA from the University of Illinois, Josh came to AI work sideways—through years of helping organizations change how people think, not just what tools they use.
