How To Place A Bid
Bidding Process:
- Navigate to the auction page – the link will become available at 8:00 AM on Monday, February 9th.
- Will be required to provide your contact information and payment information before you can place a bid.
Placing Your Bid:
- Locate the item you want to bid on.
- Enter your bid amount.
- Provide your contact and payment information. Note that on Zeffy, the payment method provided during the initial bid is saved for future bids.
- Review your bid and confirm it. Once submitted, it cannot be deleted.
Outbid Notifications:
- If you’re outbid, you will receive an email notification with a link to return to the auction form.
- You can then increase your bid amount.
Winning Bidders:
- Each winning bidder will receive an automatic confirmation of their win along with a receipt via email.
- Winning bids will automatically be processed for payment on the auction close date and time. The highest bidder for each auction item will be charged the amount of their winning bid using the payment method they provided when placing their bid.
Additional Information:
- You can place bids on multiple items in the same auction.
- You will only be charged if you win the auction.
General Rules and Guidelines
General Rules:
- All bidders are required to provide their contact information and payment information before placing any bids. Users don’t have to sign up or sign in to Zeffy to make their bid. If they win, the payment method entered during the bid is the one that will automatically be charged.
- Bidding opens at 8:00 AM on Monday, February 9th and closes promptly at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 25th. No late bids will be accepted.
- Bids can be placed on multiple items.
- All bids must be in whole dollar amounts and meet the minimum bid increment listed on each item.
- The highest valid bid at the close of the auction wins the item.
- In case of a dispute, the auction committee’s decision is final.

- Items are auctioned “as is” with no guarantees or warranties.
- The North Dakota Safety Council is not responsible for any loss or damage once the item is claimed.
Silent Auction FAQs
Q: How does the Silent Auction work?
A: Navigate to the silent auction link provided, browse the auction items, enter your contact and payment information, and place your bids. You will receive an email notification if you have been outbid and a link to place a higher bid on said item if you wish to do so. The highest bid at the close of the auction wins.
Q: Do bidders have to enter their payment information every time they make a bid?
A: No, bidder payment information is saved after the first bid. They do not have to enter the information each time to place a new bid.
Q: How do I place a bid?
A: All bidding is done through Zeffy’s silent auction platform. After entering your contact and payment information, simply select the item, and enter your bid amount.
Q: Can I cancel/delete a bid?
A: No, all bids are final. There is no direct way to cancel or delete a bid once it’s placed within the silent auction platform we use.
Q: Can I change my payment method after placing a bid?
A: Bidders cannot directly update their payment method in Zeffy’s auction system. However, current highest bidders can switch their payment method before placing a new bid on said item if they wish to do so.
Q: Will I know if I have been outbid?
A: Yes, Zeffy automatically sends an email to the bidder who has been outbid. The email includes a link that allows them to return to the auction form and place a new bid.
Q: Do I have to be present to win?
A: No, as long as you have entered your contact and payment information and placed your bids, you can participate from anywhere.
Q: How will I pay if I win?
A: If you’re the winning bidder, your payment will be automatically processed using the payment information that was previously required to be entered before placing any bids.
Q: When does the auction close?
A: The auction will close on Wednesday, February 25th at 1:00 PM (CST). Bids are not able to be placed once the auction closes.
Q: How do I collect my item if I win?
A: Items can be picked up at the silent auction area in the exhibit hall during conference starting at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 25th. Items can be shipped if needed – note shipping fees will apply. Contact Darcy Turcotte at darcyt@ndsc.org to make shipping arrangements.
Q: Can I return or exchange an item?
A: All sales are final. Items may not be returned or exchanged.
