What do you do at NDSC?
As the Director of Operations, I am responsible for program management and the day-to-day operations of NDSC. What does that really mean? Ask me in five years.
Why is NDSC’s mission to prevent injuries and save lives important to you?
I’ve seen first-hand the results of making bad decisions. To be part of an organization that offers life-changing training is very humbling.
What are your hobbies?
Fishing – since I live in ND I tend to focus on walleyes, but I can get lost in a mountain stream for days if you let me. Hunting – whitetail, mulies, elk, moose, pheasant, turkey, ducks, geese, grouse…whatever is in season and if I drew a license. Cooking – really been working on my Italian dishes lately. Gardening – mostly veggies since I don’t like the taste of flowers. Home Remodeling – from floors to roofs and whatever’s in between.
Name one really interesting thing about yourself.
I have webbed toes but do not use them as an advantage.
What other talents do you have?
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?
So many places that I would need a time-travel machine.
Gear Daddies, Ray Charles, Johnny Cash and most anything from the 80s.
If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
Fresh drinking water for everyone.
Biggest pet peeve?
People flicking cigarette butts out the window, or dropping them on the ground when they are 5 feet away from a disposal.
What animal most closely matches your personality?
Labrador Retriever – I love to hunt, I love people and I love to eat.
What is your biggest strength and your biggest weakness?
I would say my biggest strength is Empathy – I will do everything I can to make the best out of a situation. You never know what a person is dealing with, and if I can put them at ease to have an open conversation, we can usually begin improving the condition.
My weakness – My mentality of thinking “I can do that.” I’m willing to jump into anything and when I get in over my head, I will double down instead of call in the expert.
What store would you pick to max out your credit card?
Outdoor sports store.
If you were a superhero, what would your powers be?
Make it rain when and where needed. And stop the wind when I’m fishing.
So I guess you could call me WeatherMan.
Who would play you in a movie?
What is your biggest fear in life?
Not being able to outrun a lava flow.
What’s on your bucket list?
What is your favorite movie, book and TV show?
I secretly can’t read.
