What do you do at NDSC?
I serve as the Program Director for the Council, and work closely with a really great program team to get valuable safety trainings out to clients and members.

Why is NDSC’s mission to prevent injuries and save lives important to you?
Most of my career has been in healthcare, and as medicine has advanced, we know that one of the most valuable approaches to personal health and preventing early death is preventive medicine, such as screening for early detection of cancer or heart disease. I believe the mission of the NDSC is just that…preventive care. I feel grateful to continue my career in a mission-driven, people-focused organization.

What are your hobbies?
I love being on or near water and all the fun that comes with water sports. In the summer I enjoy golfing and planting/growing flowers. In the winter I love shooting pool, downhill skiing, and playing games. And my favorite thing of all is spending time with my family, friends, and dog.

Name one really interesting thing about yourself.
I am one of nine children. I have six older brothers and two younger sisters.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?
There are SO many places I would love to explore! If I had to narrow it down, I would select Greece or New Zealand. Greece because I love Mediterranean culture, food, and art. I think learning more Grecian history would be fascinating. New Zealand because it is a peaceful, safe, beautiful country, and I would enjoy learning about the Maori culture and history. Both countries have moderate climates and beautiful beaches!

Favorite singer/band/song?
John Prine, Jack Johnson, Brett Dennen, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Mumford and Son, Queen, Aerosmith, OAR, Yusef Islam (Cat Stevens) – to name a few!

Biggest pet peeve?
Scammers. They infuriate me!

What is your biggest fear in life?
Losing my loved ones.

What’s on your bucket list?
Travel. I’ve only been to a handful of countries and would love to do more exploring!

What is your favorite movie, book and TV show?
I have many favorite movies! Forrest Gump, Meet Joe Black, Good Will Hunting, Office Space, The Green Mile, Blind Side, Mystery Alaska… I love good mystery/investigation books like those by John Grisham and John Sandford, as well as drama. A recent favorite book and movie is Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens. TV shows – I’m on the Taylor Sheridan bandwagon with Yellowstone, 1883, and 1923 (if they ever start again) and I love classics like Seinfeld, The Office, Law and Order SVU. Oh, and of course Dateline.
