OSHA QUICK FACTS
- Existing OSHA standards and the General Duty Clause of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 apply to protect workers from SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes the respiratory disease known as COVID-19.
- Signs and symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, and new loss of taste or smell.
- The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides additional information about other symptoms people with COVID-19 may have.
- Some people who get COVID-19 experience only mild illness; however, the virus can cause severe respiratory disease and death.
- The CDC believes at this time that symptoms of COVID-19 may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure to the virus.
- Since March 19, 2020, the U.S. Department of State has advised U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19. CDC and the U.S. Department of State provide the latest information for travelers.
