Driver Safety Program Manager 

North Dakota Safety Council (NDSC) – Bismarck, ND

At the North Dakota Safety Council, our mission is simple: saving lives and preventing injuries. The North Dakota Safety Council (NDSC) Driver Safety Program Manager is a key role that works closely with other NDSC personnel to carry out the NDSC’s mission by coordinating Driver Safety objectives, strategies, and goals to manage efficient, well-run projects that have high impact in North Dakota.

Full-Time | Salary | Exempt

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage Driver Safety and traffic training programs.
  • Assess training needs and schedule courses with stakeholders.
  • Promote Driver Safety programs through marketing and outreach.
  • Monitor training effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Support and develop trainers, subagents, and CDL training providers.
  • Track, document, and report training outcomes.
  • Maintain expertise on current training requirements and course updates.
  • Develop strategies to increase enrollment, revenue, and program offerings.
  • Assist with budgeting, grant applications, and financial performance.
  • Serve as a Driver Safety representative through customer engagement, presentations, and public speaking.
  • Oversee course reconciliation, certificates, and related administrative processes.
  • Manage safety product sales and vendor relationships.
  • Plan and support Driver Safety events, conferences, committees, and community outreach activities.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and leadership while performing other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain required certifications, including Insurance Discount and Point Reduction applications.

Qualifications and Skills:

Work Environment and Compensation:

  • This position is located at the NDSC Safety Campus in Bismarck, ND.
  • Full-time position, Monday to Friday, with occasional flexibility based on workload demands.

CPR/AED/First Aid Safety Instructor

The North Dakota Safety Council is seeking a PRN Safety Consultant with a passion to help save lives with emergency care. The position is in Bismarck, ND. Qualified candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in emergency response or healthcare and experience in professional adult instruction is a plus. This position will require a self-motivated individual who can excel at working independently. Candidates will be required to pass a background check and drug screening. A resume is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, organize and facilitate NDSC classroom in preparation for classes.
  • Collaborate and execute updates to current course materials/offerings.
  • Complete certifications and training as necessary to be qualified for NDSC courses of instruction.
  • Ensure quality of trainings is maintained at a high level by excellent preparation, using real-life examples gained through experience, and dynamic, interactive engagements with all participants.
  • Present at conferences and events as a representative of NDSC.
  • Travel to clients to facilitate courses.
  • Maintains favorable relationships with other professionals and leaders in the field of safety and health and represents NDSC professionally in those relationships.

Qualifications/Skills

MSHA and General Safety Instructor 

We are seeking a dynamic and highly knowledgeable MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) and general safety instructor to lead safety training programs across various industries, including mining, manufacturing, construction, and more. This position has primary responsibility for developing, coordinating, and delivering mine safety training programs for surface and underground mining operations, including MSHA Part 46 and Part 48 New Miner and Annual Refresher Training. This role is vital in promoting a culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement by delivering engaging instruction on OSHA regulations, technical skills, and safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for adult education and safety. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact by empowering students and professionals with the knowledge they need to work safely and efficiently in diverse environments.

Duties

Develop comprehensive curriculum and instructional materials aligned with MSHA regulations and industry best practices.

Delivers MSHA Part 46 and Part 48 New Miner Training and Annual Refresher Training in accordance with applicable MSHA requirements.

Coordinates and conducts comprehensive New Miner Training programs that include:

  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Slip Simulator Training
  • Fire Extinguisher Training
  • Hazard Recognition and Risk Assessment
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response
  • Rights and Responsibilities of Miners

Assess student progress through evaluations, practical demonstrations, and feedback to ensure mastery of safety procedures and technical competencies.

Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying levels of prior experience in manufacturing or construction settings.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge on MSHA requirements, and industry advancements to ensure training content remains current and relevant.

Assists mine operators and employers in developing and implementing effective workplace safety and health programs.

Conducts worksite inspections, mine site assessments, and hazard evaluations to identify unsafe conditions and practices.

Prepares detailed inspection reports, recommends corrective actions, and provides guidance regarding applicable OSHA, MSHA, and industry standards.

Facilitates learning through classroom, hands-on, virtual, and field-based delivery methods.

Maintains DDC, First Aid/CPR, OSHA, MSHA, and other instructor certifications as required or approved by the Executive Director.

Maintains accurate training records and documentation required by MSHA, OSHA, and NDSC.

Prepares and submits required reports, certifications, and tracking documentation in a timely manner.

Reviews assigned safety plans for the ECCS program and submits recommendations and edits in a timely manner.

Identifies internal and external training opportunities to address customer and industry safety training needs.

Develops, updates, and delivers mine safety curriculum, training presentations, practical exercises, and participant materials.

Organizes, develops, or sources training programs and methodologies to maintain current regulatory compliance and industry best practices.

Collaborates with subject matter experts regarding mine safety, occupational safety, and instructional design.

Develops training aids, manuals, handbooks, and reference materials.

Partners with mining operations, contractors, regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other external stakeholders as assigned.

Represents NDSC at mining conferences, industry events, safety meetings, exhibitions, and trade shows.

Maintains a strong working knowledge of all NDSC services and communicates available resources and training opportunities to customers.

Administers and evaluates participant feedback and training effectiveness measures.

Experience

  • Minimum of two years of experience delivering safety training, workforce development training, or serving in a safety management role.
  • Experience in mining operations, mine safety, MSHA compliance, or occupational safety training preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable MSHA Part 46 and Part 48 training requirements preferred.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and general workplace safety programs.
