What do you do at NDSC?
I am an instructor. I have a BS in Computer Systems for Management, a Master’s degree in Education, I am an EMT volunteer with the New Salem Ambulance Service, and I am Bilingual (Spanish). I serve as interpreter and/or translator when needed.

Why is NDSC’s mission to prevent injuries and save lives important to you?
While working in Mexico for a manufacturing plant, I became aware of the importance of safety in the workplace. When we moved to North Dakota, I became an EMT for a rural ambulance service for which I still volunteer. I see the devastating effects of unsafe behaviors in my life as an EMT. NDSC’s mission is important to me because I want to come home to my family. I want my husband and children to come home. I want every worker, mom, dad, child to go home every day safe. I believe that we can make a difference with our work, making sure that employers and employees take safety seriously.

What are your hobbies?
Reading, camping (where I read), traveling and cooking and baking. And taking a siesta!

Name one really interesting thing about yourself.
I am Court Interpreter. I interpret Federal and State cases. I was born and raised in Mexico and became a US Citizen in 2003.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?
I would go to Italy and Spain because my ancestors came mainly from those 2 countries and I would love to see their places of origin.

Favorite singer/band/song?
I like oldies, and old romantic Mexican songs. I do not like noisy music, but I LOVE bagpipe music.

Biggest pet peeve?
I have approximately 300K pet peeves but I think the main one is chewing gum, particularly when the chewer is someone who is providing customer service, or when the person chews noisily (clicking).

What is your biggest strength and your biggest weakness?
Strength: I love to work and learn. Weakness: I despise lazy weak people.

If you were a superhero, what would your powers be?
Speed. I would do everything superfast.

What is your favorite movie, book and TV show?
Movie: ‘Remo Williams’

Book: I have many. I love the Bible, I like mysteries, my recent favorites are “Where the Crawdads sing” and “American Dirt”

TV Show: ‘Bull’
