Michael is a retired Air Force Sergeant and Colorado State Trooper. After serving with the 1002 Security Police Squadron, he became Master Trooper for the Colorado State Patrol where he also served as a trainer for the Colorado State Patrol Academy. His 20+ years with the Colorado State Patrol gave him unique experience, specifically in the areas of self-protection, defensive driving, and emergency operations planning. After retiring from the State Patrol, Michael spent 3 years as a CDL trainer for school bus drivers.

What do you do at NDSC?
I am a trainer/consultant  for the North Dakota Safety Council in Community Protection, Traffic Safety and Emergency Care. I am a retired Air Force Sergeant and Colorado State Trooper. After serving with the 1002 Security Police Squadron, I became Master Trooper for the Colorado State Patrol where I also served as a trainer for the Colorado State Patrol Academy. I taught arrest control, officer survival, pressure point control tactics, ground fighting and weapon retention and takeaways. I also have Krav Maga – Israeli self-defense training. My 25 years with the Colorado State Patrol gave me unique experience, specifically in the areas of self-protection, defensive driving, and emergency operations planning. After retiring from the State Patrol, I spent 3 years as a CDL trainer for school bus drivers, Colorado certified CDL third party tester, FMCSA Certified Inspector and former CDL holder.

Why is NDSC’s mission to prevent injuries and save lives important to you?
I have spent my entire life, whether in the military or civilian life, in Law Enforcement. It is ingrained in me to be committed to saving, helping and protecting others. I take great pride in teaching others to protect themselves and realize than they can choose not to be a victim or live in fear.

What are your hobbies?
Weightlifting, baseball, football and fishing

What other talents do you have?
I can hit a baseball really, really far.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?
Scotland…to see where the Jamison clan and plaid came from. Also Hawaii again because I love the islands and the ocean.

If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be?
To stop the hate because in all those years in Law Enforcement, you see how much hate that there truly is in this world.

What animal most closely matches your personality?
Grizzly Bear if you don’t know me.  Teddy Bear if you do know me.

What is your biggest fear in life?
Losing a family member, friend or someone I care about to predator, criminal or person just bent on doing evil to others.

What’s on your bucket list?
Seeing a baseball game in every major league ballpark, plus trips to Europe and the Holy Land.

What is your favorite movie, book and TV show?
All action movies, Marvel movies, Star Wars and Star Trek movies and ‘Tombstone’
