Alive at 25 Defensive Driving Course
 
Course Length: 4.5 Hours
 
Vehicle crashes are the number one cause of death for people ages 14 to 24. This highly interactive four-hour course is used to reduce traffic crashes, fatalities, and general violations by encouraging young drivers to take responsibility for their driving behavior.

Alive at 25 Defensive Driving Course,
Train-the-Trainer
 
Course Length: 16 Hours
 
This course will train candidate instructors to work with the largest group of at-risk drivers. The purpose of this course is to provide instructors with the knowledge and skills needed to teach the DDC Alive at 25 program. DDC Alive at 25 places strong emphasis on group discussion and facilitation skills that guide participants to think and form reasoned judgments. There is very little lecture; the instructor guides participants to form their own conclusions about the consequences of risky driving behavior, as well as their ability to control it.

Building a Quality Fleet Safety Program
 
Course Length: 4 Hours
 
This course is designed for supervisors who manage any kind of vehicle fleet. Attendees will learn fleet safety best practices along with essential elements for building a quality fleet safety program. Participants will receive helpful tools including a current fleet status report, considerations for all aspects of policy development, and industry suggestions for reducing crashes.

CDL Refresher and Fleet Driver Training
 
Course Length: 16 Hours
 
This two-day course is for all companies who employ commercial drivers. Topics include DUI prevention, driver fatigue, hours of service, FMCSR updates, inspections, load securement, and aggressive driving. The course also contains an optional behind-the-wheel component.

CDL Refresher and Fleet Driver, Train-the-Trainer
 
Course Length: 16 Hours
 
This new CDL Refresher Course is for all companies who employ commercial drivers. It will teach instructors how to conduct a 16-hour classroom course, which contains the most advanced CDL information offered today. Instructors
will have the ability to partner this course with our Coach Me Behind-the-Wheel training! Course topics include: DUI prevention, driver fatigue, hours of service, inspections, load securement, aggressive driving, FMCSR updates, and many more! This course will prepare your employees to drive safely and follow all federal guidelines for CDL drivers. 

Prerequisite - If you have not been certified to teach a National Safety Council DDC course, you must obtain a certification within 6 months of completing the CDL Train-the-Trainer. Attendee/company must be an NDSC member to participate.

Coach Me Advanced Behind-the-Wheel,
Train-the-Trainer
 
Course Length: 16 Hours
 
This course will prepare instructors to merge classroom training into behind-the-wheel skills. Attendees will learn how to conduct a full driving range, learn proper safety techniques and teaching methods. All tracking and evaluation tools for this type of training will be provided. Attendees will also learn how to conduct in-vehicle evaluations. This system is more dynamic and targeted than any current system available.

DDC Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving (3rd Edition)
 
Course Length: 8 Hours
 
DDC ADD is an 8-hour diversion program designed to help participants make a direct connection between their attitude and their choice to make poor decisions. They will learn how to take responsibility for their actions, and see how the choices they make have financial, legal, and personal consequences. The course guides participants to ask questions, share opinions and join in non-threatening, non-judgmental discussions. Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving is used extensively for court referrals, and also as a diversion program for people with DUI violations, excessive points, or any violation of law including minor alcohol violations, theft and other poor decisions.          

Qualifies for insurance discount and point reduction.

DDC Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving,

During this 3-day instructor development course, you'll gain the confidence to be an effective trainer for the Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving course. This instructor course features updated curriculum and facilitation methods, and allows the instructor to confidently adapt his or her teaching style to meet the unique needs and characteristics of the audience. Let our experienced trainers provide you with the tools and knowledge to become an excellent trainer.

This course addresses the attitudes of problem drivers and DUI offenders to change their driving behaviors. Participants will see how the choices they make have financial, legal and personal consequences, and they’ll learn to take responsibility for their actions. This course is used extensively for court referrals, as a diversion program for drivers with DUI, excessive violations or poor driving habits. Helps participants ask questions, share opinions and join in non-threatening, non-judgmental discussions.

Candidate instructors for DDC Attitudinal Dynamics of Driving are required to pass a pre-certification test prior to taking the instructor development course. This helps ensure instructors understand the concepts behind the course and can motivate participants to change their driving behaviors.

The Defensive Driving Course for Professional Truck Drivers is an online course that uses state-of-the-art animation, clear narration and interactive screens to teach defensive driving. This Internet-based training is a convenient alternative to our classroom course while providing the proven techniques for avoiding costly and deadly collisions. Participants can train at their own pace, even in the comfort of their own home or vehicle. The bookmark feature allows them to return and review any portion of the program before taking the open-book test. Grading and certificate issuance are immediate and the course is approved in ND for an insurance discount. Online management reduces recordkeeping efforts and administrative costs even further.

DOT Hazardous Materials Course

Current U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations require initial and recurrent training of all employees who perform work functions covered by the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR; 49 CFR Parts 171-180). This includes all CDL drivers who haul hazardous materials. This course will provide you with the necessary training to comply with DOT requirements.

Motor Vehicle and DOT Fleet Safety Assessment
 
Course Length: varies by company
 
An NDSC consultant will conduct an on-site safety evaluation to determine potential DOT violations. The consultant will inspect your company’s documentation including training, driver records, CSA, hours of service logs, new hire training records, and drug and alcohol screening. Upon completion, your company will receive a detailed report outlining potential problems, regulations not in compliance, and a comprehensive list of suggested corrective actions to improve the safety of your vehicle fleet program.

Public Transportation & School Bus Driver
 
Course Length: 3 Hours
 
A minimum of 3 hours of bus driving training is required annually in North Dakota. A defensive driving course is required every 5 years. The North Dakota Safety Council is a reliable and up-to-date resource when it comes to training your school bus drivers.
