 WELCOME TO NORTH DAKOTA OPERATION LIFESAVER

ND Operation Lifesaver is a non-profit, statewide, public education program established to end collisions, deaths and injuries at highway-rail grade crossings and on railroad rights-of-way.

ND Operation Lifesaver is lead by the North Dakota Safety Council and supported by a variety of partners, including federal, state and local government agencies, highway safety organizations, law enforcement and the nation's railroads and their suppliers.

 

 HOW DOES ND OPERATION LIFESAVER WORK?
To accomplish our mission, ND Operation Lifesaver promotes 3 E's:
 
Education
 ND Operation Lifesaver strives to increase public awareness about the dangers around railroads. The program seeks to educate both drivers and pedestrians to make safe decisions at crossings and around railroad tracks.
 
North Dakota Operation Lifesaver's trained and certified volunteer speakers provide free safety presentations for people of all professions and age groups to help them make safe decisions around tracks and trains. Educational brochures and videos, coloring books for children and training information can be found at Operation Lifesaver Inc.'s website: www.oli.org.
 
Enforcement
 ND Operation Lifesaver promotes active enforcement of traffic laws relating to crossing signs and signals and private property laws related to trespassing.
 
Engineering
 ND Operation Lifesaver encourages continued engineering research and innovation to improve the safety of railroad crossings.
