June is Declared North Dakota Safety Month

 North Dakota Safety Council Offers Free CPR Training, June 1-7

[Bismarck, ND] – Governor John Hoeven signed a proclamation declaring June as Safety Month in the State of North Dakota. The North Dakota Safety Council obtained the proclamation and will launch Safety Month with free on-line CPR and AED training June 1-7. “We hope that offering free training will be an incentive for the many ND residents to get trained in CPR and AED, or renew their skills,” said Chuck Clairmont, Executive Director of the North Dakota Safety Council. To access the free online program, visit www.ndsc.org and click on the safety month icon. Users will have 45 days in which to complete the course. Please keep in mind that there is a fee to complete the On-line Assessment and receive a completion certificate.

The North Dakota Safety Council’s Emergency Care program consists of training businesses, government agencies, and individuals in CPR/AED, first aid, blood borne pathogens, airborne pathogens and on-line training. The NDSC recently hired Kevin Stewart as their new Emergency Care coordinator. Kevin has 23 years of experience as a first responder and Emergency Medical Technician and has taught emergency care programs for over 16 years. 

The NDSC will offer other activities during Safety Month, with focus in the following areas:

Week 1:   June 1-6    Emergency Preparedness (free on-line CPR training, discounts on AED’s)

Week 2:   June 9-13   Distracted Driving (defensive driving courses offered statewide)

Week 3:   June 16-20   Poisoning Prevention

Week 4:   June 23-27   Falls Prevention
