The North Dakota Safety Council (NDSC) named their 2018 Duane Kuehn Outstanding Safety Professional Friday, Feb. 22 at their 46th Annual Safety and Health Conference. Pat Furr was presented with the NDSC’s highest award for his efforts in improving the safety of workers and rescue teams across the country.
Furr is the VPP Coordinator and Safety Officer for Roco Rescue, an NDSC member company and leader in industrial rescue training. Under his guidance, the company has achieved VPP Star Status, making Roco Rescue a part of a distinguished community of organizations who have met the rigorous guidelines for achieving VPP Star recognition.
Since 2001, Furr has trained approximately 150 rescue teams from across the country and designed innovative equipment that improved safety in the industry, including a Class III rescue harness and a revolutionary fall protection harness.

The Outstanding Safety Professional award is named after Duane Kuehn, a North Dakotan who worked in the safety industry for 40 years and whose attitude and compassion were unparalleled.
